House Manager / Major dome – Switzerland

Reporting into a Director of Operations, we have been asked to find a household manager Head Butler, or major domo who will be responsible for the General over site and management of our clients residence

Based at the client's residence situated on a large estate nearby Geneva. The role also includes working in other client residences locally in Switzerland and occasionally abroad. The position is fully hands for a very busy high profile family. Team work with other 16 household/estate staff and the family office is of utmost importance. Responsible to the Chief of Staff & Director of operations who oversees all residences. The role does not involve a great deal of travel, 70% Geneva, 25% in GStaad, 5% the family are traveling.

In essence this role is for a prominent famous Swiss family and the role would suit someone who was familiar with male and female daily wardrobe, jewellery and accessories. (Although not essential).

A list of the duties has follows:-

•  Direct point of contact for the family, household staff and family office

•  Maintaining a presence with great discretion around the family

•  In house PA duties and coordination with the family office

•  Daily wardrobe, accessories and jewelry management (inventory and log books)

•  Coordinate all daily departures, arrivals and trips

•  Ability to react to last minute demands

•  Full mise-en-place and meal service for the family (3 children) and guests.

•  Various styles of casual and formal service required

•  Entertaining and events planning with the family and family office

•  Over site of household maintenance and upkeep of the adjacent grounds (with maintenance and gardening staff)

•  Wine cellar, drinks and stores management

•  Inventory management (flatware, crockery, glassware, table linen, etc.)

•  Frequent daily rounds and checks

•  Follow up on other employees tasks and tradesmen projects

Working Conditions:

This is a live out position working 5 days per week (flexible according to client requirements), Weekends generally required to work, Live out (could be in Switzerland or France), 4 weeks holiday per year with legal public holidays, Modern semi-formal uniform with occasional formal attire

• Interesting salary for the right candidate according to experience

Qualifications:

• Experience working in private residences
• Certified hospitality and service certified
• Relevant hospitality experience
• Valid references and a criminal record check required
• Nationality valid to work in Switzerland (Swiss contract)
• Basic computer skills required (word, excel, email)
• Experience with “haute couture” fashion houses, hairdressers, stylists, media, etc.
• Safety and security training and experience a plus

Languages:

French is the household working language and a must. English is also required. Other European languages a plus
