STEPHEN JOHN PARKER,
Deceased January 30th 2007

  It is with great sadness that we announce the sad loss of one of our industries most wonderful General Managers, Stephen Parker, who died of a heart attack last Tuesday night in Nigeria.

Stephen was a highly polished GM with extensive international standards who was a leader and a natural manager who successfully opened 7 five star hotels in the Caribbean and the Far East. Stephen was an excellent project manager with a strong background in food & beverage.

He had extensive training and development skills and helped export International five star standards all over the world. His skill was simple; he successfully built winning teams to achieve financial and operational goals.

Stephen had enormous drive and stamina to succeed in demanding roles and he enjoyed challenging locations because he always had a determination to win which is always what he did do, because he had a strong understanding of cultures and creeds, he worked all over the world in England, Switzerland, Germany, Caribbean, South East Asia, Middle East, West Africa and gained Cruise experience world wide.

Some of his most interesting challenges were at the Grand Hotel, in Asaba Nigeria, additionally, the 5* Holiday Inn Dur, Dubai owned by Abdul Aziz Al Shiha, he was the Hotel Manager at the A1A Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE and was GM for V-Ships Shipping Management in Monaco. Stephen was Hotel manager at the Westin Chiang Mai in Mai, China.

He spent time at the Melia Sol Twin Towers, (part of Melia - Sol Hotels International), Bangkok , Thailand . He also worked at the Siam City Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, also the Westin Stamford & Westin Plaza for Westin Hotels & Resorts International in Singapore. Stephen was also hotel Manager on the M/V Princess Mahsuri (M/S Berlin) Blue Funnel Cruises – Singapore and gained his caribbean experience working for Royal St. Kitts in St. Kitts on the Leeward Islands , in the British West Indies .

During in his life and career, Stephen became Vice President of the Food & Beverage Association – in Bangkok, Thailand. He was also an important member of the Chaine De Rotisseur and Maitre de Table in Thailand. His hobbies & Interests included Art, History, Music, Theatre, Cooking, Geography & Travel, African - Asian Culture & languages where he was fluent in English, German, Fair in French, Spanish and Italian, but he also had a Knowledge of Thai & Malay

Stephen will be sadly missed and leaves behind his Mother Mrs Parker and two brothers, Nick and Martyn, Neice and Nephew, Heidi and Charles.
